Computers don't make web sites, people do. Instead of focusing on a site that is inaccessible we focus on the people who are responsible for making it accessible.
Learn more about Web Accessibility.
We offer one day/half day training workshops either based on site or for businesses based in the North West (UK) we can arrange training our Liverpool based office in Liverpool Innovation Park.
The workshop content depends to a large extent on your skill level and perceived needs but we'll discuss this with you beforehand to ensure we're on target with the workshop content.
There is little point trying to impart skills to a group of people who, in the first place, are not sure why they should learn them.
For example, it is often the task of developers to implement the web accessibility fixes. If developers don't value the process of accessing a site then the implementation will be poor. They will also find reasons not to make fixes rather than looking for ways of making fixes. If they come across a minor difficulty in implementing a fix then they will quickly give up.
If, on the other hand, a person is clearly motivated and sees the value of acquiring a new set of skills then most obstacles (such as poor training!) will be unlikely to get in their way. So the first step is to sell web accessibility and explain how everyone wins when a site is made more accessible.
Once everyone is 'on board', then it is useful (and saves time!) to give them a set of resources that allows them to transform their enthusiasm into practical skills.
Finally, we go back a step, and make sure we haven't forgotten everything else that needs to be taken into account when developing a Website. Websites can give accessibility a bad name when it is clear that accessibility has been the only consideration.
